StormChase.com and the team behind it strongly believes in being good stewards to the Earth, its oceans, its life, its atmosphere and the environment around us.  There is a growing and extremely urgent environmental issue that we want everyone to be aware of - the "Trash Vortex", which is not the type of vortex that we want to chase. Our trash and the destruction it creates is a growing problem that is not only killing our oceans, but killing the life within the oceans and it may even have a strong catastrophic result with the storms our planet produces because the Earth and its atmosphere are regulated by its vast oceans and the life they contain.

Plastic VortexOur message is not one of human induced climate change or man-made global warming - of which you might expect from a group of meteorologist and storm chasers, but rather its a message of the Earth's slow destruction by our trash and the result of our actions towards the life that balances the world's oceans and therefore regulates our entire planet.

Because our oceans regulate our atmosphere and our atmosphere regulates our climate and the varying highly specialized microclimates found on our planet - it is vitally important that we do everything within our power to protect the world's oceans and the life they contain.

We are storm chasers, meteorologist, weather forecasters, photographers and nature enthusiast in-general. We are often witness to some of the world's most awe-inspiring atmospheric displays that nature can create.

These great storm systems all have a purpose and are designed by nature to regulate the Earth's atmosphere by transporting heat from equatorial zones to the planet's Polar Regions. All storms start with life's most basic ingredient - water.

Whether its moisture streaming north from the Gulf of Mexico to create the awe-inspiring supercell thunderstorms of the Great Plains, or the warm waters of the mid-Atlantic that creates the monster hurricanes that often inconvenience so many lives, these storms have a design and cause by nature itself. And, without these storms happening just as nature intends, it won’t be hundreds or thousands of lives that are inconvenienced - it will be all life that is inconvenienced.

Unhealthy oceans may lead to a planetary disaster of massive scale.  It is our duty to give our planet and the life upon it the utmost care during the short time that we are privileged to walk on the surface, swim in its waters and breathe the air that Earth provides us.

Unfortunately, the ocean is the world's largest landfill. Some parts of the Pacific Ocean contain more plastic than plankton, a key component of the food chain that exist in the oceans. Plastic does not break down naturally within the environment and the plastic that is floating within the oceans is often mistaken for food by sea life such as turtles, birds, fish and even whales.

This trash also lines many of the island beaches found throughout the globe, further becoming a deadly danger to life that lives along these beach and reef areas. The animals that our trash kills all play a vital role in the balance of a healthy ocean and a healthy atmosphere, thus a healthy planet.

Without a balanced ocean as nature intended, life on Earth simply cannot survive. So forget being "green", the real question is - "Are you Blue?"

Please recycle as much as possible! And don't dump chemicals down your drains, remember - all drainage systems end up in the oceans through a series of rivers and channels. We must prevent our trash, especially plastics and chemicals from reaching the ocean.

Join us in our efforts to save the oceans by recycling trash and plastics to help protect the Earth's oceans, its life, its atmosphere and its storms!
