It appears that the chaser who apparently gave away free video to a major network may have been wronged by the network. New information from the chaser at the center of this suggests that the he did sell the video to the network and he allegedly has confirmation numbers that can prove that the video was sold.
It has been brought to my attention that during the recent Oklahoma blizzard, which was a major story over the holidays, that a few very well known storm chasers have given away video footage to major networks using those networks “Citizen Journalist” or viewer video services.
I’ve probably just about wore out the life of this video, but there are some chase days that you’ll probably remember forever. I have many, but May 29th 2004 stands out for me. Particularity because of the shear ‘quality’ of the first tornado of what became a significant tornado outbreak across central Kansas.
Recently, I have had a few bad experiences with television media companies, as well as print media companies concerning the ability to sell a product – either video or prints. I’ve been doing this for years, but it is a quickly changing market.
It seems that storm chasers and musicians pretty much live the same road life…
I thought I would put some humor on here and recently re-edited this video. This occurred during Tour 2 in 2007, which is still by far one of the most memorable tours that we’ve conducted. Not only was it memorable because of Dr. Tom allowing us to take a Bic Razor and chop his hair off (yeah – that was funny!), but we saw 12 tornadoes during the week across Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
