The world has gone mad! There are tornadoes in California, earthquakes in the Caribbean, 2012 is just around the corner and Al Gore is still breathing…actually, were all still breathing — so lets just take a deep breath and calm down.
It isnt unusual for our phones to ring and we find curiosity on the other end of the line. People are very curious about natures most extreme weather, especially those who are unlucky enough to not live in Tornado Alley. And, we love talking about extreme weather – we welcome your phone calls!
2012
However, as of the past few months and we believe largely driven by the release of the movie 2012, it seems that every time some crazy event happens from an unseasonable tornado on a California beach to an earthquake in a region where theyre not common — were getting flooded with calls from nervous people wondering when its all going to end.
In short – we dont know.
But, there is some glimmer of hope to all the despair, we dont know. Yes, that is the glimmer of hope and as far as were concerned, we think our chances are pretty damn good….considering the real threats that exists in the world.
Which brings me to yet another point — why are so many people shook up about these events in light of 2012 when so many other things exists that people should really be scared of?
Like what you ask? Here is Brians Top 10 Things People Should Really be Scared of…
10. Whats really in that fast food burger youre eating? Yes, thats right — this day and age 100% Beef actually means it was a real cow at one time, but it was raised on a toxic mixture of chemicals and growth hormones. Unless you raise your own beef — Id be scared!
09. Clowns.
08. MSNBC.
07. Clowns at MSNBC.
06. People who dont see any need within themselves to improve something about themselves.
05. People you havent seen in 25 years popping out of nowhere on Facebook (who are probably addicted to Whoppers and working at MSNBC).
04. People who dont recycle (I like to think of them as Eco-Terrorist, since they are after all threatening the worlds oceans and our global ecosystems).
03. The collapse of fish stocks in the oceans (yes, its a real threat!). Did you know that last week a Blue Fin Tuna from the Mediterranean sold on the Japanese Fish Market for 111,000 Euros! Why do you think that is?
02. Terrorist – you remember them dont you? Those are the people that want to kill other people for a religious or political statement and have no official backing of government.
01. The Future. Thats right, we cant rule it out. Anything can happen from mass extinction meteor impacts to super volcano eruptions to massive solar flares….the future can be a scary place. But, just chill out about it. What would you rather do, go through your very probable long-lived lifespan worrying about every little thing each and everyday, or living like each day is your last and being the best person that you can be? Dream big – live your dreams and reach your goals… and dont worry about anything else.
So you see, we can take all the possibilities of the Earths natural events and cram them into a single topic. Why? Because you cant change it. If and when nature decides its your final day, then its your final day. But, we can change the world and make it a better place in the meantime!
After all, its not the two dates written on your tombstone that mean anything – its that little dash in the middle!
So, Heres to the Future! Enjoy it, you wont get another one.

As it was said so many years ago, “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself”. Will another Katrina hit us, odds are very likeley ! Will we have a earthquake in the US like they had in Haiti, odd’s are good for that. But will other countries come to our aid like we do them ?? We had a tornado touchdown in Ossipee, New Hampshire in 2008 just before we moved to Arizona. A tornado in New Hampshire ??? Who ever thought. Global Warming ?? Did you know that Global Warming was discussed as a issue in 1955 ? And even back then, scientist around the worlkd said, it has no effect on pur global system of storms. If even a thing called Global Warnming exsists ?? We keep saying, we’ve broken this record, or that record. But broken since when ? 1925, 1899, 1877 ? This planet has been spinning for millions of years. Do you think we’ve had bigger hurricanes than Katrina since 2005 on this planet ? How about the years 1703, 1621, 1505 ?? Oop’s, no records, nobody knows. So how can we keep saying, we set a new record, since when ?? Did the earth deforst thousands of years ago,and freeze again ? Arizona use to be under water at one time, now we are the desert ?? Ariozna had nmore trees than the State of Maine, now look at us. Is it Global warming, or is it the way Mother Nature intended it to be ?? I go with Mother Nature. “We have nothing to fear except fear itself, wise words.

Tsunami in Japan
As most know by now, I do a lot of volunteer work in the ocean activism community when I’m not storm chasing in Tornado Alley. I was in Otsuchi Japan (Iwate Prefecture) on March 11th, 2011 monitoring the slaughter of Dall’s porpoises for Ric O’Barry’s Save Japan Dolphins and standing just a few feet from the water on a man made pier in the middle of Otsuchi harbor when the M9.0 earthquake hit.
