Last week I had the honor of being invited to Hamilton College in upstate New York to give a lecture to a group of students and members of the community. This was my first trip to upstate New York and I’m glad I was able to do it during the fall season – it was beautiful! It always seems that no matter where I go, nature always finds a way to entertain my eyes in all types of weather and conditions.
The day that I gave the lecture (October 29th), there was a mild severe weather outbreak across extreme eastern Texas and parts of Louisiana. The atmospheric setup with a digging trough over Texas worked out very nicely that day because storm action in east Texas is hard to chase due to trees and terrain, but the low pressure system provided me with a “live example” of how extreme weather works in the plains.
My sincere gratitude and appreciation goes out to the community of Clinton, NY and Hamilton College and most of all the Emerson Literary Society for the invitation to speak. I hope to see several of them again along the highways in Tornado Alley!
