New Spin on an Old Tornado Video

I’ve probably just about wore out the life of this video and no doubt you’ve seen it in many of network productions, but there are some chase days that you’ll probably remember forever.  I have many, but May 29th 2004 stands out for me. Particularity because of the shear ‘quality’ of the first tornado of what became a significant tornado outbreak across central Kansas.

Not only was the quality and photogenic nature of this beast a major score, but it first hit the ground not even a mile from where we were sitting for more than an hour – it was picture perfect.  Unfortunately, the VX-2000 camera was fairly new to me and my chase partner who owned the camera and we didn’t end up with the highest quality video that we could have – but nonetheless, the video was still amazing.  Just not as amazing as seeing this monster up close and personal.

This is a new spin on a old video – it’s edited rather creatively with some nice music and a fake’ish weather radio voice (reading the actual tornado warning from the event) a fun idea that I picked up from watching The Discovery Channel’s polished productions.  In any event, it’s a great watch – enjoy!
