The life and times of Hurricane Bill are about to come to an end as Bill starts his final track into the North Atlantic. And, with cooler waters ahead, it’s a matter of hours before Bill starts to gradually decrease in strength and become extratropical.
Bill is currently a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Intensity Scale and will make a pass tonight just off the coast of New England before further weakening after its pass with Newfoundland.
There is still a serious threat to shipping and fishing operations in the North Atlantic, along with higher tides and rip currents along the East Coast of the United States.
Bill is forecast to be downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it makes landfall at Nova Scotia and will likely carry tropical storm force winds, along with high waves east across the North Atlantic.
In fact, the real story with Bill, or shall we say the story that Bill may be known for in the history books is “Tropical Depression Bill” which very well could make landfall in the United Kingdom of all places.
In any event, “Vaya con Dios Hurricane Bill”.
Now, when can we expect Danny and Erika to arrive?
