Rick Toracinta Graduate Scholarship in Atmospheric Science Endowed Fund

(The Ohio State University endowment fund #480403)

Dr. Rick Toracinta

Dr. Rick Toracinta

Dr. Rick Toracinta was my chase partner on several great storm chasing occasions and I was extremely fortunate to befriend him. Rick was a rising star in his research field of Polar Meteorology at the Byrd Polar Research Center, The Ohio State University. While Rick is no longer with us, his work and research lives on and is helping scientist discover clues about the state of our planet’s climate.

Aside from being a gifted scientist, he was also extremely passionate about extreme weather and storm chasing and he always made every storm chase a great occasion, no matter what the outlook.

A scholarship has been established to award $1,000.00 annually to graduate students studying atmospheric science, broadly defined, at The Ohio State University. Preference will be given to students specializing in severe weather (e.g., thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes), polar meteorology or polar climatology. The selection criteria include academic performance, excellence as an instructor (if appropriate), and intended use of the scholarship funds to advance one’s graduate studies.

I speak with Rick’s mother often and she is extremely proud that this scholarship is helping bright young students who are in need further their studies at The Ohio State University.

Please help and make a donation to the Rick Toracinta Graduate Scholarship in Atmospheric Science Endowed Fund.
