There is a Moderate Risk for severe storms this morning spanning across much of the south as a major tornadic event is currently organizing into what appears will be a widespread event.
People along the Gulf Coast, as well as Kentucky, Tennesse and Georgia should closely monitor the weather today for rapid deterioation.

NASA’s TRMM Satellite is providing meteorologist with a lot of unique opportunities to study tropical rainfall rates, and tropical cyclones. TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) has an on-board radar that can scan storms with incredible accuracy from space.
