The map widget is an overwhelming success. In the past month it has averaged 4 new users per day. That may not sound like a huge number, but considering the number of chasers/spotters out there and those who are using SN – we’re thrilled with those results. We obviously don’t want to create projects that people don’t like and a lot of people have written in with their appreciation for the widget as well as their recommendations for improvement.

Due to the fact that we here at stormchase.com are storm chasers and we’ll be on the road for the majority of the upcoming season, please take note that we’re not going to be able to devote a lot of time towards implementing widget updates – but ALL of your recommendations are being noted and we will be updating the widget, hopefully this fall so that it’s better than ever for the 2010 storm season!

We are also experimenting with the idea of seeking a sponsor for the widget. We don’t want to bog down your website with advertising that means nothing to your viewers, and we won’t. We WILL keep the widget free for you to use but we may need to secure a “meaningful” sponsor to cover the additional bandwidth cost that we’re planning on seeing, should the widget subscriptions continue to grow – and we hope they do.

We’re just happy at this point that so many people are finding the widget as a valued little tool for their use. Recommendations for improvement are always welcome, feel free to drop us a line!
