StormWiki is sort of like a giant science related social experiment – it has been created to collect the knowledge of its authors for the learning experience of its readers. Its authors can be anyone – perhaps you might decide to write an article on a topic related to severe weather and that you know something about.
Then maybe someone else will come along and read your article and modify it. Eventually a group of people who are passionate about the topic you originally wrote about come together to manage that topic within the Wiki.
Hopefully with time, the result will be a vast collection of severe weather knowledge – created by people like you – that will help others who are so eager to learn about our special discipline.
It is up to “you” if StormWiki becomes a success or not. Its up to people like me too, and people like storm chaser Bill Murray.
Bill recently setup a group page on Facebook specifically for the StormWiki Project. I think the Facebook Group is a great idea – it provides a place outside of the StormWiki project where people can come together on a very popular social media platform to discuss issues related to the StormWiki project.
Its a place where the people who contribute to the StormWiki project can communicate with people who would like to see its continued development due to their own interest in meteorology in storm chasing.
In any event, I want to thank Bill for setting up the Facebook Group. And you are of course invited to join.
