Why I Don’t Read Your Blog

Posted by Brian Barnes under Opinion Leave a Comment

I’m not going to name the offender but one of my friends just emailed me with an update to his blog and after a few seconds of at least trying to read it – I had to close the page.

So, why don’t I read you’re blog?

Its becuase you’ve likely selected a color like “black” as you’re blog’s background color and it kills my eyes to try to read white and colored text on a black web page!

Maybe it’s just something wrong with my eyes, or it could just be one of my hangups (I’m not sure) – but light text on really dark backgrounds gives me a headache (I’m not kidding!) and while your blog might be filled with all kinds of great things – I’m not going to get a headache over it!

Or – perhaps there really is a “Science to Readibility” -

So do me, and you a big favor – if your background color is dark, especially black, change it and I would then enjoy reading your blog.
